The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of scholars working either in low- or middle-income countries (LMICs) or in low-income communities in the United States investigating, evaluating, and implementing programs to prevent or intervene in psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. Additional expertise in substance use and comorbid medical conditions such as HIV is desirable. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree.
Teaching responsibilities may include directing a course on implementation of evidence-based practices in LMICs and lecturing on this area in other courses.
Clinical responsibilities may include providing clinical administrative support to implement evidence-based practices in LMICs, and direct patient care if appropriate.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leading an independent research program on implementing evidence-based practices in LMICs and expanding and directing an emerging program in implementation science and global mental health in the Department of Psychiatry (https://www.med.upenn.edu/psychiatry/). Evidence of scholarship is required.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty in other Penn departments, centers, and institutes, particularly the Penn Implementation Science Center at the Leonard Davis Institute (PISCE@LDI), which is tasked with building Penn's capacity in implementation research, education, and practice. There also are opportunities to collaborate with the Penn Mental Health AIDS Research Center and Penn Center for AIDS Research. Applicants in early career development are encouraged to apply.
