JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Director of Admission is a key member of the Graduate Admission team, acting as a leader in the recruitment of graduate students for the School of Science and Health Professions, and the School of Nursing. The Associate Director must possess a deep understanding of admissions and be skilled in driving proven student recruitment tactics across the funnel. With support and guidance from the Director of Graduate Admission, the Associate Director will develop and implement thoughtful and impactful student recruitment strategies for graduate programs within the health sciences portfolio. This position includes extensive application review and evaluation, and necessitates sound judgment in processing admission decisions. Additional responsibilities include: attending in-person and virtual recruiting events, event planning, hiring and supervising contract application readers and student ambassadors, partnering with departmental faculty and staff, collaborating on marketing strategy/ tactics, and staying updated with best practices and trends in graduate enrollment management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Analyze data to make informed, strategic recommendations in order to increase conversions throughout the funnel and ultimately grow enrollment.
  • Monitor admission funnels on a daily basis, messaging concerns and/or opportunities to the Director.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills-both verbal and written-- and an unwavering commitment to customer service by communicating clearly, positively, and effectively in a timely manner with all constituents including applicants/students, Simmons faculty and staff, and external partners/vendors.
  • Collaborate with faculty, graduate admission colleagues, operations, faculty, and other university colleagues to identify issues and propose/implement solutions.
  • Create and manage reports for multiple audiences.
  • Exercise independent judgment and utilize a holistic approach when reviewing applications.
  • Provide consistent and timely follow through on all questions and concerns from prospective students, internal stakeholders and team members.
  • Effectively onboard new admissions committee members.
  • Using market knowledge and historical data to make recommendations for scholarship strategies, and monitor and evaluate scholarship campaigns.
  • Update admission related policies and procedures

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university required, master's degree preferred
  • At least 5 years admissions experience, preferred in a non-profit college or university, with extensive application review experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively work with a CRM and databases, Slate and SalesForce experience preferred
  • Comfort with online webinar technology using audio, video and shared desktop applications, preferably Zoom
  • Creative, innovative and ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to adapt to new and rapidly changing situations
  • Strong time management and problem solving skills
  • Ability to successfully resolve issues from request through resolution.

  • This position will require flexible hours. During peak file-review periods, hours increase and vary.
  • The Associate Director must attend approx. 2 evening and/or weekend virtual and/or in person events per month
  • The Associate Director will attend both in person and virtual related recruitment events as needed
  • Valid US driver's license and ability to rent a car, as travel will be required to areas not served by public transportation or reliable taxis.
  • Passport or REAL ID will be required before the government deadline (currently May 2025), as this position requires 4+ flights per year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Hybrid eligible, with 3 days per week on campus
  • 12 months at 40 hours/week, though weeks may last longer than 40 hours at certain times in the recruitment cycle; especially while traveling, and during peak application review times.
  • Work is performed in a setting with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
  • Generally sedentary office environment with significant time operating a computer. During the peak of the application review periods the Associate Director may be reviewing applications on a computer screen for 8+ hours per day.
  • Communicate with others in-person and by email, video conferencing, and telephone.
  • Evening and weekend work will be required to attend graduate fairs and conferences (~10 weekend days per year) as well as to provide monthly evening or weekend in-person and virtual information sessions.
  • Some travel to recruitment events is required, typically a mix of local events along with around 4-5 short trips per year. The Senior Assistant Director must be confident with traveling independently, including driving for several hours per day, flying, and staying overnight.. Work days during recruitment events may last 12 hours or longer.
  • Lifting of recruitment materials, up to 50 pounds.
